Monica Petty Aiello

Denver-based artist, Monica Petty Aiello was the Lossett Visiting Scolar at the University of Redlands in California April 27–May 20th, 2009. Monica collaborated with Dr. Julie Rathbun, Associate Professor of Physics. The two taught an interdisciplinary course entitled "Cosmorphology," which explored the connections between geological and artistic processes. Dr. Rathbun, a researcher specialist on Jupiter's volcanic moon Io, helped inspire Monica's most recent series, The Ionian Garden, which was unveiled at Diehl Gallery in September 2008.

During her residency, Monica also visited the Jet Propulsion Laboratory where she conducted research for a new series which premiered at Denver's Walker Fine Art in November of 2009.
