Artist Bio

It is easy to see, through his sculptures, the passion for animals that Tim Cherry possesses. Born in Alberta, Canada, Cherry grew up in the wilderness of Canada, eventually working as a professional guide, quickly becoming an expert on the terrain and the wildlife. At the age of nineteen, Cherry took up the study of taxidermy and with the help of his mentor, Forest Hart, he became skilled in modeling animals and familiarized himself th animal anatomy inside and out. It was this technical skill that inspired the artistic skill for Cherry who soon began creating bronze sculptures. His work has been described as "inspired by aspects of art nouveau and a love for wildlife." He strives to create works that are "unique and strong in design" and his personal style certainly makes this artist stand out.

In 2001 Tim was the gold medal recipient at the Prix de West, winning the prestigious James Earle Frazier Award. In 2003, 2004 and 2005, Tim was invited to participate in both the Gilcrease Museum’s Rendezvous show in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s Miniature Show and Exhibition in Jackson, Wyoming.

Cherry’s work is exhibited nationwide in galleries and exhibitions, and can be found gracing the homes of collectors internationally. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, the National Sculptors Guild and the National Sculpture Society and his work has been published in Southwest Art, Art of the West and other magazines. Currently, he resides in Branson, Missouri with his wife, Linda, his daughter, Amber, and Lucy, the dog.
